Both fleas and ticks can cause itching and secondary skin infections for pets. Both may also spread other diseases, some of which can transmit to people. With the overall increase in environmental temperatures, fleas and ticks are expected to be a growing problem. Dealing with these parasites involves controlling parasite populations in the environment and killing those on the pet. MVAH offers a variety of services from flea and tick prevention to treating active infestation including secondary infections.

MVAH Tips

Pets should not play with string-like objects.  Items such as string, ribbon, dental floss, rubber bands, etc. can be very dangerous if ingested.  Do a quick sweep of your home daily to make sure nothing is left out that can be harmful to your pet.

The Companion Animal Parasite Council (www.petsandparasites.org/) offers a wealth of information regarding these external parasites and the diseases fleas and ticks can transmit.
