Miami Valley Animal Hospital maintains an extensive inventory of relevant veterinary drugs and products to meet the medical needs of your pet. Pharmaceutical drugs can be provided on-site as well as sent to your home using our VetCentric provider.  Our veterinary drugs are FDA approved for use in dogs and cats which ensures proper dosing and bioavailability based upon the physiology of our animal patients, rather than those intended for human use.  We also dispense name-brand medications which is important because generics are not required to have the same level of bioavailability and therefore are often not completely utilized by the patient's body.  This means that you can count on the medications that MVAH provides for your pet to be high quality and intended for animal use.

If we do not stock the drug your pet needs, we can:

  • Write prescriptions for drugs through our local pharmacists who dispense human medication
  • Utilize compounding pharmacies to provide medications in a form more tolerable to your pet
  • Provide flavored pills or liquids for pets having difficulty swallowing or for pet owners who struggle with pilling their animal
  • Provide some medications effective as transdermal gels applied to and absorbed through the skin.
